Mark Ellison, CEO, was
born in Squamish, BC and cut his biking teeth on torturous
backcountry tracks in the Whistler/Blackcomb area. Mark combined
a world-class racing career with full time business
administration studies at the University of McGill in Montreal.
In May, 1989 he skipped the ceremonial granting of his first
class honours degree in favour of standing on the World Cup
winner's podium. In a sport dominated by Europeans and Americans,
Mark's gold medal was Canada's first in World Cup competition.
Greg Chisholm, Vice-President, Research & Development, collected the bronze medal in the same 1989 World Cup contest. A native of Linlithgow, Scotland, Greg's passion for mountain bike racing inspired many holidays excursions to the challenging on and off road tracks in Europe during his tenure as a student in the University of Edinborough's Department of Mechanical Engineering
Mark and Greg, known on the circuit as Eli and Chisel, were fierce competitors before they became friends and business partners. Provoked as much by the prospects of the legendary climbing tracks in BC, Chisholm immigrated to Canada in 1990 and with Ellison, launched Xtreme in March of 1991.
