The Tweak-XP ZIP file doctor

Windows XP comes with an included ZIP File feature, but it does not offer any function to check the integrity of a ZIP file, to recover files which are stored in a damaged ZIP file or to create a selfextracting executable.
Download and transfer errors can damage a .zip file - in most of all cases you will have to re-download the .zip file... This is history with Tweak-XPs ZIP File doctor: Apart from checking the integrity of any .zip file, it will repair dammaged .zip files, create selfextracting .exe files and reconvert selfextracting exe files back to .zip files !

Check the integrity and repair a .zip file:

If you want to check the integrity of a .zip file, please select the file you want Tweak-XP to check for errors by clicking the 'Folder button' inside the frame labeled with 'Specify the .zip file to check or to fix here'. Choose the file Tweak-XP should check and click the 'Check integrity of a .zip file' button. Tweak-XP will check the specified file.
To fix a damaged .zip file, specify its path and click the 'Fix a damaged .zip file' button. Tweak-XP will check the integrity of the specified file and - if it finds an error in the .zip file - repairs it.

Tweak-XP cannot recover all files inside a damaged .zip file,
but it will recover all files that were not damaged too much.

Create a selfextracting exe file - create a zip file from a selfextracting exe file:

This feature will convert a zip file into an executable that contains everything needed to extract itself to the current directory. This is a useful way to distribute zip files to end users, since they do not need to have an unzip utility like WinZip or PKUNZIP on their computer.

To convert a .zip file into a selfextracting .exe file, specify a .zip file you want to convert into a selfextracting file and click the 'Create a selfextracting file'.
Attention: your original .zip file will be converted to a selfextracting file - that means, that the zip file will be deleted when it was converted !

To convert a selfextracting .exe file into a .zip file, specify the selfextracting file and click the 'Create a .zip file from a selfextracting file' button.
Attention: your original .exe file will be converted to a .zip file - that means, that the exe file will be deleted when it was converted !
