File Renamer

Beside the hundreds of system tweaks Tweak-XP offers, we've included some useful utilities Microsoft has not yet included to Windows. The first of these features is a file renamer to rename hundreds of files by just one mouseclick. This feature is very useful if you want to rename your image database, your holiday photographs, database files etc. etc.

How to use the file renamer:

  • Select the directory where the files you want to rename are stored.
  • You may enter a file pattern to make Tweak-XP display a special kind of file such as *.jpg or *.gif
  • Enter the new filename and specify whether the old name should be replaced completely by the new one, or if the new one should be set before the old name or be attached to it.
  • Specify the number you want Tweak-XP to start counting the files.
  • If you want Tweak-XP to remember the last number for the next renaming procedure, check the 'Adapt counter after renaming' check box.
  • For a preview of the renamed files, click the 'Preview' button and Tweak-XP will show this box:

  • Close the preview and click the 'Rename files !' button to rename the files you've selected according to your settings.
ATTENTION: there's no undo function available. Once renamed - you cannot switch back to the original filenames.
