Modem Tweaks

The modem tweaks are one of the main features of Tweak-XP. Just by one mouseclick you can optimize the speed of internet connections. Tell Tweak-XP what hardware you're using to surf the internet and it will change several Windows settings to increase the speed of your connection.

Tweak-XP offers predefined optimization scripts you can activate for the most common Internet-Service-Providers (ISP). Just select your ISP and your hardware and Tweak-XP will optimize all settings to your needs.

There are predefined optimizations available for the following ISPs:

  • America Online

  • AT&T WorldNet

  • CompuServe

  • Earthlink

  • Generic ISP (to use with all providers not listed here)

  • Microsoft Network

  • Mind Spring

  • Prodigy

  • Tritium

  • T-Online

and for these hardware confirgurations:

  • ADSL or cable connection

  • Dialup modem

  • DSL - PPP over ethernet

  • ISDN

  • T1

  • Other LAN access

Pros of the Internet-Speed Optimization by Tweak-XP:

  • Your connections will be more stable

  • Downloads will be faster (depending on the speed of the server you're downloading from)

How to use the predefined optimizations:

  • Select your ISP.
  • Select the hardware you use to connect to the internet.
  • Click on 'Save settings !' below the 'Your hardware' drop-down listbox.
  • Restart Windows !

By activating the 'Use some other tweaks to increase the internet connection speed' option, several other values that will increase the speed of your internet connection will be calculated and activated.

Please remember that you'll have to restart the system to make the new settings take effect.
