Find
and remove unnecessary files
Delete empty folders and zero byte files
In the course of time
there will be more and more unneeded files scattered all over your harddisc(s).
Temporary files, old backup files and other unneeded stuff will block a lot of
discspace and slow down disc access. By using Tweak-XP you can easily find such files and
remove them from your system:

How to use
this feature:
-
Choose a drive from the drive list
box you want to be examined for unneeded files.
-
Click on 'Start
search''.
-
Please be patient
while Tweak-XP searches your harddisc. It might take some time for the
procedure to finish.
-
As soon as the
search-process is finished, all unncessary files will be displayed in the
list box.
-
Choose the
file(s) you want to remove from your system.
-
Click on
'Delete selected files'.
-
Attention: the
files will NOT be deleted to the recycle bin ! They will be immediately
deleted and cannot be recovered.
The 'System
Clean-Up' box offers three more ways to clean up your system:
-
'Uninstall
some programs': Click this link to uninstall some applications.
-
'Uninstall
Windows components': Click this link to open the Windows Component setup
dialog.
-
'Start Windows Clean-Up': you can start a disc drive cleanup
including temporary internet files and internet cache files. You can also find more options to
clean up your harddisc(s). There's also a function to uninstall unneeded
applications and games.
-
'Search for
empty folders': Click this link to open this box:

Using this new feature of Tweak-XP
you can easily search your harddisc(s) for empty folders and zero byte files.
The performance of your harddisc might increase when you remove unused empty
folders and zero byte files.
How to use this feature:
- Select the drive you want to
be inspected for empty folders
- Choose the method Tweak-XP
should use to scan your drives
-
List only empty folders: searches only
for empty folders (folders without subfolders and files).
-
List also non-empty zero-length folders:
searches for empty folders and folders that do contain empty subfolders and/or
0-length files only (marked with '>>>').
-
List also folders without files:
searches for empty folders and folders that do contain subfolders but no files
(marked with '>>>').
- Click on 'Scan Drive !'
- Select the folders you want to
delete and click on 'Delete selected folders'.
- The folders you choose to be
deleted will be moved to the recycle bin. If you find that you've deleted a
folder that was needed by Windows, you can easily restore the folder from the
recycle bin.
Attention: be carefull
when deleting folders ! Some folders might be essential for Windows to operate
correctly. Do NEVER delete a folder you do not know what it's used for ! Do not
delete any subdirectory of the Windows directory !
