Windows Utilities

On this page of Tweak-XP you have access to several Windows XP utilities. For a detailled description of each application, please check the applications help file.

Certification manager: This application enables you to manage certificates for a user, computers, or services.
Computer manager: The Computer Manager is an administrative tool that enables you to manage local and remote computers.
Device manager: Using Device Manager, you can update the drivers (or software) for hardware devices, modify hardware settings, and troubleshoot problems.
Driver verification manager: This tool can be used to manage driver verification.
Infrared manager: This tool manages infrared connections between hardware components.
Disc defragmentation: Disk Defragmenter is a system utility for analyzing local volumes and locating and consolidating fragmented files and folders.
Performance manager: Performance Manager supports detailed monitoring of the utilization of operating system resources.
File sharing manager: Using Shared Folders, you can view a summary of connections and resource use for local and remote computers.
User and Group manager: Using this program you can manage user and group settings.
Event manager: Using the event logs in Event Viewer, you can gather information about hardware, software, and system problems and monitor Windows security events.
Services manager: This tool provides detailled information on services running on your machine.
Registry editor: Registry Editor is an advanced tool for viewing and changing settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs.
Removable media manager: Removable Storage makes it easy for you to track your removable storage media (tapes and optical discs) and to manage the libraries, such as changers and jukeboxes, that contain them.
Disc manager: Disk Management is a graphical tool for managing disks. It replaces the Disk Administrator and offers many new features.
Windows Updater manager: This tool helps you to stay up-to-date with your Windows XP installation.
Task manager: Task Manager provides information about programs and processes running on your computer. It also displays the most commonly used performance measures for processes.
DirectX diagnostic tool: The DirectX® Diagnostic Tool gives information about the Microsoft® DirectX application programming interface (API) components and drivers on your system and lets you test sound and graphics output, as well as DirectPlay® service providers. It also allows you to disable some hardware acceleration features.
Private character editor: Using Private Character Editor (PCE), you can create up to 6,400 unique characters (such as special letters and logos) for use in your font library. PCE contains basic tools for creating and editing characters, along with more advanced options.

Attention: if one of the Windows utilities was not installed during setup of Windows XP, Tweak-XP cannot start it.
