I get the message "Cannot recognize text in this document. OCR was not successful."
The current document seems to contain no text. This might occur if you have a colored or poor-quality original, or if the background is dark, which makes the text difficult to scan. Choose another scanner preset and scan the original again.
How?
On the File menu, click Scan New Document, and then choose a preset from the Select a preset for scanning list.
- The Black and white from color page preset scans in grayscale at 300 dots per inch, but saves the resulting file in monochrome format. This preset is designed to provide maximum text resolution for optical character recognition (OCR) when scanning pages containing colored backgrounds or colored text.
- The Grayscale preset scans in grayscale at 200 dots per inch. This preset is useful when scanning pages containing continuous-tone black and white images (such as photographs) and text, or colored text.
