Create a new workbook

Do one of the following:

Create a new, blank workbook

On the File menu, click New, and then click Blank Workbook on the New Workbook task pane.

Create a new workbook based on the default workbook template

Click New on the Standard toolbar.

Note   The default workbook template is usually located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\XLStart.

Create a workbook based on another template

  1. On the File menu, click New, and then click General Templates on the New Workbook task pane.

  2. Click the Spreadsheet Solutions tab or the tab listing your custom templates, and then double-click the template for the type of workbook you want to create.

Note   If you don't see the template you want in the New dialog box, make sure the template is installed and located in the correct folder.
