Template Wizard - Step 1 of 5

The Template Wizard with Data Tracking helps you create a template you can use to enter data in a database that you link to the template. The database can be a Microsoft Excel workbook or a Microsoft Access, Microsoft FoxPro, dBASE, or Paradox database.

Select the name of the workbook

Select an existing workbook that's organized and formatted so that you can easily fill in the data you want entered in the database. All open workbooks appear in the list. The wizard uses the workbook you select to create the template, but the workbook itself remains unchanged.

If you don't see the workbook you want   Click Cancel, open the workbook, and then restart the Template Wizard.

If you've already created a template   Click Cancel, click New on the File menu to create a new blank workbook based on your template, and then restart the Template Wizard.

Type a name for the template

Excel will automatically include the .xlt file name extension. By default, the template is stored in your Templates folder. To store the template in a subfolder of the Templates folder, include the subfolder name in the path.
