Two character spaces after punctuation
Professional typesetters and desktop publishers use only one character space between words, even after the end of a sentence. They do this because the fonts are designed to look their best with only one character space between words.
- To remove all extra character spaces after punctuation in a publication, click the Change All button in the Design Checker box.
- To remove the extra character space after a single punctuation mark, click the Change button in the Design Checker box (Tools menu, Design Checker). If the Change and Ignore buttons are unavailable, it means you clicked somewhere in the publication after the Design Checker highlighted a text box that contains an extra character space. To make these buttons available again, click Continue.
