Troubleshoot linking graphics
My linked picture isn't updating.
The link may have been broken. Try linking the graphic again.
How?
- On the Tools menu, point to Commercial Printing Tools, and then click Graphics Manager.
- Click the name of the embedded picture you want to link to.
- Click Create Link.
- When Publisher asks, How do you want to create the link?, click the option you want.
- Click OK.
- Do one of the following:
- If you chose Browse to locate the original file and link to it, click the name of the source file in the Link to Graphic dialog box, and then click Link to File. If you don't see the file you want, switch to the drive or folder it's in.
- If you chose Create a file from the full-resolution graphic stored in the publication and link to that, type a name in the File name box in the Save As dialog box, and then click Save.
- If you want to save the file in a different folder, switch to another drive or folder.
- Click Close.
Notes
- If you link to a display graphic that is a bitmap, Microsoft Publisher saves it in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). Transparency is not preserved in bitmap images, except transparent GIF's. Also, if you embed a transparent GIF, Publisher saves it as a GIF instead of a TIFF.
- If you link to a display graphic that is EPS or vector-based, Publisher saves it in Windows Metafile (WMF) format.
- If you have an embedded EPS graphic, Publisher exports it as a Windows Metafile when you pack your publication for a commercial printing service.
