Set East Asian character spacing

The feature described in this Help topic is only available only if support for the appropriate East Asian language is enabled through Microsoft Office Language Settings.

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. On the Format menu, click Character Spacing tab.
  3. Under Kerning, select the option you want.
  4. In the By this amount box, enter the amount of space you want between characters.
  5. Click OK.

Tip

To apply different character spacing that is dependent on the font or text, select the Kern text at check box. In the and above box, enter the minimum font size of the characters to which you want to apply kerning. Kerning can only be applied to text that is formatted with TrueType fonts.
