Publish a Web site using a shortcut to a location on the Internet or a network

Before following this procedure, you must add a Network Place for your Web site.

How?

Before you can create a shortcut to folder on a Web server, you should ask your system administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for the URL of a Web site where you can save files.

Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

  1. From the New File task pane in any Microsoft Office XP program, click Add Network Place.

    If the New File task pane is closed, click File, and then click New.
  2. Click Create a shortcut to an existing Network Place, and then click Next.
  3. Type the URL of the Web server or Exchange 2000 server.
  4. Type a name for the network place, and then click Next.
  5. Follow the instructions in the wizard to create the network place.

Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 98

  1. From the New File task pane in any Microsoft Office XP program, click Add Web Folder.

    If the New File task pane is closed, click File, and then click New.
  2. Click Create a shortcut to an existing Web Folder, and then click Next.
  3. Type the URL of the Web server or Exchange 2000 server.
  4. Type a name for the network place, and then click Next.
  5. Follow the instructions in the wizard to create the network place.

Note   The Office Add Network Place Wizard is used for setting up shortcuts to folders on Web and Exchange 2000 servers only. To create a shortcut to a folder on a network file server:

  1. On the File menu, click Save As Web Page.
  2. Click My Network Places.
  3. In the list of Network Places, double-click the site you want, and then double-click the folder where you want to publish your Web site.
  4. Click Save.

Publish a Web site using FTP

Before following this procedure, contact your Internet service provider or system administrator to get the information you need to publish to an FTP site. You also have to create an FTP site in FTP locations.

    How?

    1. On the File menu, click Save As Web Page.
    2. In the Look in box, click FTP Locations.
    3. Double-click Add/Modify FTP Locations.
    4. Enter the information you received from your Internet service provider, and then click OK.
    5. Click Cancel.
  1. On the File menu, click Save As Web Page.
  2. In the Look in box, click FTP Locations.
  3. In the list of FTP sites, double-click the site you want, and then double-click the folder where you want to publish your Web site.
  4. Click Save.

Publish a Web site to a folder on your computer

  1. On the File menu, click Save As Web Page.
  2. Click Yes.
  3. Switch to the drive and folder where you want to publish your Web site.
  4. Click OK.
