Add a table of contents with leaders

Leaders are the dots, dashes, or lines that follow the chapter or section titles in a table of contents and link those titles to page numbers.

To create a text box for your table of contents, click the Text tool on the Objects toolbar, and then drag inside your publication.

  1. Type the title of your table of contents, and then press ENTER.
  2. Double-click the horizontal ruler where you want the page number to appear. 
  3. In the Tabs dialog box, under Alignment, click Right.
  4. Under Leader, click Dot, and then click OK.
  5. In your table of contents, type the name of the first entry, and then press TAB.
  6. Type the page number for that entry, and then press ENTER.
  7. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you complete the table of contents.
