Object covered by another object
As you add new objects to your publication, it's easy to accidentally cover an existing one.
You can correct this problem by moving, deleting, or resizing the covered object.
Move the object
- Click Bring to Front to show the covered object.
- Click the object to select it.
- Position the mouse pointer over the object until the pointer changes to the Move pointer.

- Hold down the mouse button and drag the object to the new position.
As you move the object, its exact position is indicated by the changing numbers
in the status line at the bottom of the screen.
Note If the Guides command is turned on (Arrange menu, Snap command), the object might snap to the nearest guide when you release the mouse button. If this happens, turn off the Guides command, and then move the object again.
Delete the object
- On the Arrange menu, click Bring to Front to show the covered object.
- Do one of the following:
- To delete a text box or table, click the object to select it, and then press CONTROL+SHIFT+X.
- To delete WordArt, a picture, line, or shape, click the object to select it, and then press DELETE.
Resize the object
- On the Arrange menu, click Bring to Front to show the covered object.
- Click the object to select it.
- Position the mouse pointer over one of the handles until you see the Resize pointer.

- Do one of the following:
- To resize a picture proportionally, select a corner handle, and then proceed to step 4.
- To resize a custom shape or text box proportionally, select a corner handle, hold down SHIFT, and then proceed to step 4.
- To stretch the object, select a top, bottom, or side handle, and then proceed to step 4.
- Hold down the mouse button and drag the handle to change the object.
