Add text to a shape

1. In your publication, select an AutoShape.
2. Type the text you want.

Notes

• New text begins where existing text ends.
• Some AutoShapes, such as lines, connectors, or some freeform drawings, have no room for text. While you can't add text to the shape, you can place it near the shape. Just add a text box, place it close to the shape, then type your text in the text box.

  How?

  1. On the Object toolbar, click Text Box or Vertical Text Box .
  2. Do one of the following:
     • To add text that doesn't wrap, click in or near the AutoShape in which you want to add text, and start typing. The text box grows to fit the text as you type.
     • To add text that wraps, drag to create a box the size you want, and then start typing.

  Note   The text box will not move when you move the shape unless you group the text box and shape.

  How?

  Group objects

  1. Click the Select Objects tool , and then drag the selection box around the objects that you want in the group.
  2. In the lower-right corner of the selection box, click Group .

  Ungroup objects

  1. Select the grouped objects you want to ungroup.
  2. In the lower-right corner of the selection box, click Ungroup

  Tip

  You can select one object in a grouped object without ungrouping it. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on the object you want to select.
