Set up a mirrored-page layout (as for a book)

A mirrored-page layout is used for publications that have facing pages, such as a book or booklet. When you select the Create Two Backgrounds With Mirrored Guides option, Microsoft Publisher creates outside margins and gutters (or inside margins) for left and right pages. Because the guides mirror each other, any change that you make to a gutter or margin on one page is reflected in the gutter or margin on the other.

  1. On the Arrange menu, click Layout Guides.
  2. Select the Create Two Master Pages With Mirrored Guides box.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the lower left, click the page icon for any odd-numbered page in your publication.
  5. On the View menu, click Master Page.
  6. Add text or pictures where you want them to appear on every right page of your publication.
  7. If you don’t see two pages, click Two-Page Spread on the View menu.
  8. Copy the objects that you just placed on the right background onto the left background.
  9. Position the objects on the left background so that they mirror those on the right background.

Objects positioned on the left and right master pages should mirror each other.
