Change file properties

You can change document properties from the currently open document or from the list in the Open dialog box:

From the current document

1. On the File menu, click Properties.
2. Do any of the following:
   • On the Summary tab, edit the values for standard properties, such as Title and Author.
   • On the Custom tab, edit custom properties.
   • If you opened the document from a document library, the document library-specific properties are displayed in a form. Edit any field and then click OK or, to view and edit other properties, click File Properties.

From the Open dialog box

1. On the Standard toolbar, click Open .
2. In the Open dialog box, select the document for which you want to edit properties.
3. On the Tools menu, click Properties.
4. Do any of the following:
   • On the Summary tab, edit the values for standard properties, such as Title and Author.
   • On the Custom tab, edit custom properties you have defined.
