Enable or Disable unique permissions for a subweb

This feature is available on webs hosted by web servers running SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft and FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 only.

  1. On Tools menu, point to Server, and then click Administration Home.
  2. On the Site Administration page of the subweb that you wish to configure, under Users and Roles, click Change subweb permissions.
  3. In the Permissions area, specify whether or not you want the subweb to use the same accounts and roles information as the parent web site.
  4. Click Submit.

Note   When you enable unique permissions, a copy of the parent web's user accounts and roles remain with the subweb. You can then delete any accounts and roles that you don't want and add new ones as needed. The subweb will also retain the same user role setting for anonymous (guest) users as the parent web unless you specify a different role.
