Troubleshoot hyperlinks

A hyperlink goes to a wrong destination

This can be caused by one of following:

Nothing happens when I click a hyperlink

This can happen when the text you believe is a hyperlink only looks like a hyperlink.

When I click a hyperlink, it returns a 404 error message

This can be caused by one of the following:

When I click a hyperlink, it returns a 403 error message

You may be trying to link to a page or directory that does not have anonymous browsing permissions.

A hyperlink goes to the wrong frame

This is often caused by incorrectly setting up the target frame for your hyperlink. To change the target frame, do the following:

  1. In Page view, open the page that contains the hyperlink.
  2. Select the hyperlink, and then click Insert Hyperlink Hyperlink tool.
  3. To change the target frame, click Target Frame in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. Then do one of the following:

    Choose a target frame within your frames page

    In the Target Frame dialog box, the Current frames page area shows a map of your frames page. Click in the frame you would like to set as the target frame.

    Choose a target frame outside your frames page (in a new window)

    In the Target Frame dialog box, under Common, click New Window.
