Troubleshoot frames

My hyperlink is
showing in the wrong frame
On frames pages that you create
by using frames page templates
in Microsoft FrontPage, the target frames
are already set up for you. You can override the target frame for a single hyperlink, or change the default target frame for all hyperlinks on a page.
- In
Page view, open the frames page that has the hyperlink.
- Select the
hyperlink, and then click Insert Hyperlink
.
- Do one or both of the following:
Change the target frame for a single link
- Click
Target Frame in the
Insert Hyperlink dialog box.
- In the Target Frame dialog box, you can select which frame to
show your page in. The Current frames page
area shows a "map" of the frames page.
- Click the frame in which you want to
show the page pointed to by the hyperlink you selected.
Change the default target frame for all hyperlinks on the page
- In the
Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click
Target Frame.
- In the Target Frame dialog box, you can select which frame to
show your page in. The Current frames page
area shows a "map" of the frames page.
- Click the frame in which you want to
show the page pointed to by the hyperlink you selected.
- To designate the target frame you selected as the default target frame for all the hyperlinks on the page, select the Set as page default check box.
When I click a hyperlink, I want the page to show in
a new browser window
On frames pages that you create
by using templates in
Microsoft FrontPage, the target frames
are already set up for you. You can change the default target frame so that when a site visitor clicks on a hyperlink, a new browser window opens.
- In
Page view, open the frames page that
has the hyperlink.
- Select the hyperlink, and then click Insert Hyperlink
.
- In the
Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click
Target Frame to change the target frame from the default.
- In the Target Frame dialog box, under Common, select New Window.
I can't see all my documents listed
on the page tabs
If you have created so many files that not all of them are visible
on the page tabs, you will need to do one or more of the following:
- Make the left-most tab visible Click
.
- Make one
more tab to the left visible Click
.
- Make one more tab to the right visible Click
.
- Make the right-most tab visible Click
.
I want to edit the HTML of a nested frames
page
When you are editing a
nested frames page,
you can also edit the HTML coding, but you must first open that page in a new
window.
- Right-click anywhere on the page, and then click Open Page in New Window on the shortcut menu.
Microsoft
FrontPage won't let me open a frames page template
If your browser can't show frames, the frames page template will be
unavailable. You can check to see whether your browser shows frames.
In Page view, do the following:
- On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- In the Browsers list, select your browser.
- Depending on which browser you choose, frames will be selected or
deselected under Technologies.
