Set the page language

Setting the language of a page ensures that Web browsers and advanced search engines can identify your pages' language, and display them correctly.

Microsoft FrontPage determines the page language of a new page from your keyboard language setting, once you begin typing on the page. If you import or open a page that does not contain the HTML tag that identifies the page language (for example a page created in Notepad), you will want to specify the exact language for the page.

To set the page language, use the following procedure.

  1. In Page view, right-click the page, click Page Properties on the shortcut menu, and then click the Language tab.
  2. In the Mark current document as box, select the language for the page.

Note   Setting the page language also enables FrontPage to automatically load the correct spelling dictionary. For FrontPage to load the correct spelling dictionary you must first install the Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack or the Microsoft Office Proofing tools for the languages used on a page.
