Set the properties of a table cell

  1. In Page view, select the cells for which you want to change the properties.
  2. Right-click, and then click Cell Properties on the shortcut menu.

Then do one or more of the following:

Set the alignment for the contents of the cell

Set cells as header cells

Prevent wrapping text in a cell

Adjust cell width or height by setting the number of rows or columns that it spans

Adjusting cell spanning enables you to have cells of varying widths or heights in a table. For example, you can set the span of a cell to two rows in height or two rows in width:

  1. Under Layout, in the Rows spanned box, type the number of rows you want the cells to span.
  2. Under Layout, in the Columns spanned box, type the number of columns you want the cells to span.

Set cell borders

A cell border can be one or two colors, and each individual cell within a table can have its own one or two-colored border. When you use two colors, the table border has a three-dimensional appearance.

  1. Right-click the table cell, and then click Cell Properties on the shortcut menu.
  2. Do one of the following:

Set a one-color border   

Set a two-color border   

Note   Click the Style button (if it is available) to access other options for formatting your table using cascading style sheets as an inline style.
