Manage hyperlinks

View all the internal hyperlinks in your web site

  1. Make sure the Folder List is showing.

    How?

  2. On the View menu, click Hyperlinks.
  3. In the Folder list, click the page that has the links you want to view.

Verify that individual external hyperlinks are valid

Although all the hyperlinks in the current web site are shown in the Reports view, Verify Hyperlinks is only available for external links.

In Hyperlinks view, do the following:

  1. Save all open pages.
  2. On the View menu, point to Reports, point to Problems, and then click Broken Hyperlinks.

    The first time you run this report in a session, Microsoft FrontPage asks you to verify the hyperlinks in your web site. Click Yes.

  3. Right-click the file with the hyperlinks that you want to verify.

    If a hyperlink's destination is not in the current web site, the status of the hyperlink is Unknown.

  4. On the Shortcut menu, click Verify Hyperlink.

Repair broken hyperlinks

  1. On the View menu, point to Reports, point to Problems, and then click Broken Hyperlinks.
  2. All broken hyperlinks in the web site are listed.

    If a hyperlink's destination is not in the current web site, the status of the hyperlink is Unknown.

  3. Double-click a hyperlink with Broken status.
  4. In the Edit Hyperlink dialog box, do one of the following:

Update all hyperlinks

  1. On the Tools menu, click Recalculate Hyperlinks.
  2. Click Yes to confirm.

Note   In a Web site based on SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft, hyperlinks in document libraries and interactive lists are created and managed automatically.
