When you create a shared template to be used in a web site, the template is stored in a hidden folder in the web site. A copy of the template is also stored on the hard drive of every web site author who opens that web site. The following procedures explain how to delete both instances of a shared template.
Delete a shared template from the folder list in a web site
The _sharedtemplates folder is displayed in the Folder List.
How to choose a subfolder
Depending on the types of shared templates you've created, the _sharedtemplates folder contains corresponding subfolders.
Type of shared template | Stored in subfolder |
---|---|
Non-frames page | Pages |
Frames page | Frames |
Cascading style sheet (.css) | CSS |
For example, if you want to delete the shared template named Mytemplate.tem, delete the folder named Mytemplate.tem.
Delete the copy of a shared template that is stored on your hard drive
Each author who has opened the site must do the following:
Delete the appropriate shared template folder from the Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\subfolder location on his or her computer.
Note The exact location of this folder varies between operating system and installation directory. Subfolder represents either Page, Frames, or CSS. The following examples show sample paths to the location of frames template copies on a hard drive, where the installation is on drive C:
Windows 98
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\Frames
Windows
NT 4.0
C:\WINNT\Profiles\user\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\Frames
Windows 2000 or Windows Millennium Edition
