Delete a shared template

Some of the content in this topic may not be applicable to some languages.

When you create a shared template to be used in a web site, the template is stored in a hidden folder in the web site. A copy of the template is also stored on the hard drive of every web site author who opens that web site. The following procedures explain how to delete both instances of a shared template.

Delete a shared template from the folder list in a web site

  1. On the Tools menu, click Web Settings, and then click the Advanced tab.
  2. Select the Show documents in hidden directories check box, and then click OK.
  3. Click Yes.

The _sharedtemplates folder is displayed in the Folder List.

  4. In the Folder List, double-click the _sharedtemplates folder.
  5. Double-click the subfolder that contains the shared template you want to delete.

    How to choose a subfolder

Depending on the types of shared templates you've created, the _sharedtemplates folder contains corresponding subfolders.

Type of shared template Stored in subfolder
    Non-frames page Pages
    Frames page Frames
    Cascading style sheet (.css) CSS
