Remove an extended component

To remove an extended component from the Insert Web Component dialog box, you must delete the .ini file associated with that component. The folder in which it is located depends on the language version you are using.

  1. On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
  2. Double-click the drive on which Microsoft Office is installed (normally drive C).
  3. Double-click Program Files.
  4. Double-click Microsoft Office.
  5. Double-click Office.
  6. Find the folder that contains your language's .ini files.

  8. Double click the folder that applies to your language.

    For example, double-click 1033 for U.S. English.

  9. From the list of available .ini files, identify the one for the extended component you want to remove.

    How?

    If you can't identify the file by its filename, do the following:

    1. Double-click an .ini file.
    2. In the file, under the section called [Component], look at the line that reads Name="component" and confirm the following:
      • If the name matches the extended component you want to remove, close the file and select it in the folder list.
      • If the name doesn't match the extended component you want to remove, close the file and repeat steps 1 and 2 until you find the correct .ini file.
  10. Make sure the file is selected, and then press DELETE.
