This set-up guide picks up from after you have created a mailbox for the user within FTGate and ensured TCP/IP is installed and working correctly on the machine you are about to set-up.
If you experience any problems with the TCP/IP set-up on the machine, there is a fault finding test sheet called Testing a client connection to FTGate in this Troubleshooting section of our web site.
This guide works from a fresh install of Pegasus. Run the installer by double clicking on it, follow the on-screen instructions using the default settings until you will see this screen: Click 'Next' to continue and install Pegasus.
Then you will see this screen:
Click 'Finish' to continue. This will close this screen and complete the installation.
To configure Pegasus, open Pegasus using the following path Start | Programs | Pegasus mail for Win32 | Pegasus mail for Win32
You will see this screen.
In most cases you can click the first option for 'One person on this computer'. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Use the default settings. Click 'Next' to continue.
Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Enter your Full email address as described on the screen. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Enter the LAN name or the IP address of the FTGate machine. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Enter the users mailbox name, the one created in FTGate for this user. Then enter the mailbox password defined for that mailbox.
Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
'The address of your SMTP server' is the same as the POP3 server, Pegasus fills this in automatically - you should not need to change it. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Select the 'Network' option as you are connecting to FTGate across the LAN. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
As the screen says, you are nearly finished. Click 'Finish' to complete the setup. You will see this screen:
You should now be able to start using Pegasus to send and receive mail via FTGate.
