Logging |
The mail server can generate a variety of messages to indicate the state of message processing. These messages are grouped into classes of message depending on their severity. The administrator can select the level of severity which will generate a message in the event log.
There are also further options to log information regarding the SMTP, POP3 and SmartPop connections; these are available on their own properties pages. The output from this log is entered in the main log.

This allows the specified addressee to be aware of any potential problems without constantly having to check the status monitor or event log. The message generated will contain the last few events that occurred leading to the critical event, e.g. A critical event may be the detection of a virus in a file. |
