Log

The mail server can generate a variety of messages to indicate the state of message processing. These messages are grouped into classes of message depending on their severity. The administrator can select the level of severity which will generate a message in the event log. This page shows the log in the currently selected options.

 

The event log shows the date and time the event happened and the following information:

 

Property

Description

Thread

The thread number (in hexadecimal) that handled the event.

ID

The message Identification number of the event.

Entry

The description of the event.

 

 

Also available on this page is the option to change the order of the events list. This is achieved by selecting either:

 

  1. The æOldest firstÆ button to view the oldest event at the top of the page.

  2. The æNewest firstÆ button to view the newest event at the top of the page.

 

The selected option will appear highlighted thus to indicate the selected order.

 

The standard æRefreshÆ button is available on this page to refresh the events listed.

 

The æOpen LogÆ button opens the Event log in a new window.

 

Additional features available in this window are as follows:

 

List last

Enter a value in this field to limit the number of event log entries.

Refresh every

Enter the interval in this field to have the page automatically refresh at that interval. The refresh period can be defined as s (seconds) m (minutes) or h (hours) by entering the suffix after the number of units, e.g. 30s would cause the page to refresh every 30 seconds.
