Connecting Eudora to FTGate |
If Eudora is already installed and you just want to point it to the FTGate machine, go to the topic Changing the account details in Eudora in this section of this document. The version used for this example is 4.3
After installing Eudora, you may see some screens explaining how their licensing works, after reading them you will see this screen:
This is the beginning of the mail account set-up. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
The option 'Create a brand new email account' is selected by default, leave this option selected and Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Enter your full name in this field then Click 'Next' to continue. You will now see this screen:
Enter your full Internet email address in the following format, user@yourdomain.com where user is the mailbox name within FTGate for the user you are setting up and yourdomain.com is your correct, registered domain name.
If you experience any difficulty connecting to the mailbox, use the full email address, e.g. user@domainname.com where user is the mailbox name within FTGate for the user you are setting up and domainname.com is your correct, registered domain name.
Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
The 'Login Name' should be filled in. Change this if your mailbox has a different name. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen:
Incoming Server - This is the name of the FTGate mail server machine or IP address.
The option 'POP3' for server type is selected by default. This is correct, FTGate uses POP3 mailboxes. Click 'Next' to continue. You will see this screen
Outgoing mail - This is usually the same as the incoming mail server and will be filled in by Eudora.
The option 'Allow authentication' is supported in FTGate, so check this box if the option is enabled on the POP server (defined on the POP3 server's properties page in Web Admin). Click 'Next' to continue.
If you are using the Authentication options within FTGate you can check the 'Allow authentication' box on this page. This will force Eudora to authenticate the connection each time it is made. This is not usually required on a LAN (local area network).
Congratulations, you have finished setting up Eudora to connect to FTGate. Click 'Finish' to close this screen. You can now connect to FTGate to send and retrieve mail.
