This Setup guide goes through the set up of a User mailbox. The wizard will display the pages relevant to the mailbox type you select to create. Enter the information requested on the page. Each page has information on the data type expected and the affects of entering the data or enabling the option.
You do not need to go all the way through this wizard to create a mailbox. You can click 'Finish' button at any time to create the mailbox and continue configuring the mailbox manually via the mailbox properties page in the domain.
To create and configure a mailbox using the Mailbox Wizard, follow these steps:
Connect to the Web Admin Interface as defined in the Connecting to Web Admin Utility Topic in the Getting started chapter of this document. Logon by entering the correct user name and password.
Enter the Mailboxes properties section by clicking the Mailboxes tab at the top of the page (blue tabs bar). You will see the list of current (if any) mailboxes.
To add a mailbox manually click the 'Add' button.
Enter the name of the mailbox in the 'Mailbox' field. This is usually the users name, e.g. fred, fred.basset or similar.
Select the mailbox type from the list. Click on the radio button beside the mailbox type.
There are two choices from here:
A, click the 'Finish' button. This will create the mailbox. You will then need to manually configure the settings for the new mailbox.
B, Click the ''Next'' button, this will allow you to continue and configure the settings using this wizard. Continue to step 8.
Enter the users details here, the First and Last name along with any common name and a description of the user e.g. "Support team member". Click 'Next' to continue.
Set any forwarding options you wish to use for this mailbox. Click 'Next' to continue.
If you wish to monitor the mail sent by this user for Quality control or training purposes, enter the mailbox name for the user (usually the supervisor) who should receive a copy of the outgoing message. Click 'Next' to continue.
Define any auto response that should be sent out when a message is received into this mailbox. Click 'Next' to continue.
Set the 'Out of office options'. These are usually only set if the user is out of the office. Click 'Next' to continue.
Set 'Local only' restriction. This will prevent user sending mail to anyone outside of your domain. Click 'Next' to continue.
Select NT user password control if you are running FTGate on a Windows NT/2000 system, then enter the users NT ID. This forces the user to use the NT logon password to get mail. Click 'Next' to continue. Note: This page will be missed if you are running on a Win 95/98 system and go direct to step 15.
If you selected NT logon in the previous step then go to step 17. Enter the password the first field and confirm it in the second field. Click 'Next' to continue.
Set the quota, that is, the maximum space the mailbox can use on the system hard disk and the action to take if the quota is exceeded. Click 'Next' to continue.
Set the Privileges, which this user has. The top option 'Use default privilege set for this domain' applies the defined system default Privileges as defined in the Domain Privileges page. Click 'Finish' to create the mailbox with the defined settings. You will be returned to the Domain mailboxes view.
