Control

This page allows the administrator to define sites that the users are prohibited from accessing, or define the sites users can only view, offering complete control of the access to the Internet. The following properties are available:

Property

Description

Schedule for Internet connection

Select the Schedule the proxy will use to establish the connection to the Internet, selecting one from those available in the drop-down list.

Disable site security

Checked by default, this option allows unlimited access out to the Internet with no restrictions on the sites viewed. Selecting one of the other options will de-select this option.

Barred Sites

Select this option by clicking on the radio button, then add the sites that are barred to the list. See below for more detail on adding sites. Users will be barred from accessing pages from the listed sites.

Permitted sites

Select this option by clicking on the radio button, then add the sites that users will be permitted to view to the list. See below for more detail on adding sites. Only accesses to pages from the sites listed will be allowed.

Adding site security

To add an entry to the Barred sites list, follow these steps:

  1. Type the full URL into the 'Site' field below the 'Add Barred site' pane.

  2. Click the 'Add Barred site'   button.

The new entry will be added to the list of Barred sites. The users will no longer have access to that site. This can be useful, where, for example, you do not want your employees to have access to certain web sites.

To add an entry to the 'Permitted sites' list, follow these steps:

  1. Type the full URL into the 'Site' field below the 'Add Permitted site' pane.

  2. Click the 'Add Permitted site'   button.

The new entry will be added to the list of Permitted sites. The users can now access that site.

Delete an entry

To delete an entry from the list follow these steps:

  1. Select the entry you wish to delete.

  2. Click the Delete button beside the relevant pane.

The page will refresh and remove the entry, thus removing the allow or deny for that site.
