This page provides information on the Attachment filter within FTGate. It is used to restrict or manage the way FTGate handles messages with attachments.

Enable attachment filter |
Check this box if you wish to enable the attachment filtering option. |
From |
Defines the specific 'From:' address to apply the defined filter to. Thus if a match is found the filter will be applied. |
To |
Defines the specific 'To:' address to apply the defined filter to. Thus if a match is found the filter will be applied. |
Extension |
Define the type of extension to search for, no "." dot (period) need be entered, just the three letters e.g. exe, com, doc xlsà |
Action |
How FTGate handles the message if a match is found, and the message has an attachment of the defined type. |
The Action options from the drop-down list are as follows:

Allow |
No action is taken. |
Purge |
Removes the attachment and places a note in the message to inform the recipient it has been removed.
The recipient would receive a replacement attachment indicating the action taken. |
Quarantine |
Moves the whole message to the Quarantine folder for the administrator to deal with as needed.
The recipient and administrator would receive a message informing them of the action. |
Delete |
Deletes the whole message. |
If a match is found, the defined action for that entry will be executed. The sender, recipient and postmaster would receive a message informing them of the action.
You can set the order of the list using the up and down buttons.
To view the details of an attachment, click the 'View this attachment filter' button.
To delete an attachment, click the 'Remove this attachment filter' button.
