====================================================================== POSTMAN - Personal Edition, The Multiple Account Internet E-mail Software ====================================================================== Copyright 1997 by Internet Software Design Version 1.3 -------------------------------------- Postman is an Internet E-mail application with the ability to send and receive E-mail from multiple E-mail accounts, and save each account's messages in it's own folder. Postman is for the individual with more than one E-mail account, or for the group environment where more than one person needs to access E-mail from the same computer. Postman is simple and efficient, saving your time for your email, not your email program. New in version 1.3, Postman adds password protection so no one can veiw your mail while you are not at your desk. -------------------------------------- Requirements: A 486 or better PC running Windows 95 or Windows NT. An Internet connection using Dial-up-Networking or equivalent. An Email account using POP 3 and SMTP protocols. -------------------------------------- Installation: Unzip the all the files in the archive to a temporary directory. Run the Setup.exe file. Follow the instructions to install Postman. -------------------------------------- Shareware Demo: This is the full version of Postman. You are licensed to use it for 30 days free of charge. The program will expire 30 days after the date of installation unless registered. For registration information go to http://www.creativenet.net/postman. ANY LIABILITY OF THE AUTHOR/DISTRIBUTOR/SELLER WILL BE LIMITED EXCLUSIVELY TO PRODUCT REPLACEMENT OR REFUND OF PURCHASE/REGISTRATION PRICE. -------------------------------------- A Brief Operational Description Postman functions much like other E-mail programs, except that it will store the information for many different E-mail accounts and allow you to retrieve the mail from any or all of those accounts with the click of a single button. Messages are downloaded and stored in a folder with the name of that account. They may then be moved about to other folders as needed. To setup your accounts, go to the "Options - Accounts" menu. Enter the appropriate data into the boxes and hit the "Save" button. You may enter as many accounts as you like. By default Postman will delete the messages from the Internet mail server after retrieving them. If you want to leave them on the server click on the check box "Delete message from server after downloading." to remove the check. If you wish to add a signature file you may select any pre-existing text file using "Browse" or create a new one with the "Create" button. To select the accounts you want to check for mail, click on the magnet icon on the toolbar, then click on the account name. The "Get Mail" button will begin the retrieval process. You can also click on the mail slot icon on the toolbar to retrieve the most recently selected accounts. Any messages you delete are moved to the Postman trash folder. You can recover messages deleted by mistake by opening the trash folder using the "Folders:" combo box and moving the message out of the trash with either a right click or selecting "Move" from the Message menu. Emptying the Trash from the file menu permanently deletes all the messages in the Trash folder. Under the menu Options - General, the Security tab allows you to protect Postman with a user name and password. The program can only be started with that user name and password, keeping others from viewing or retrieving your mail. The security feature is an option and can be turned on or off as desired. Right clicking on a message brings up a menu. The "Priority Flags" item will change the message's icon so that you may mark a message for your future attention. Clicking on any web link (http://...) in a message will open your default web browser and send it to that link. For further information on how to use Postman, select Help Topics from the Help menu. -------------------------------------- Version History Added in Version 1.1 Added "Fresh Mail" Button to the toolbar in addition to the Fresh Mail Menu. Added a Stop button to abort downloading and uploading mail. Clicking the "CC" button in the New Message window, then Double clicking on an entry in the address book loads the "CC" box.
