New Amiga Search Engine

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Amiga's first web site search engine, amiCrawler, will be replaced this month by amiSpider, the Amiga's first search spider. The site can be visited at http://www.amicrawler.com/spider/.

New features include:

  1. Faster searches, displaying more relevent matches first
  2. Indexing of every word of every page, allowing searches such as "browser comparison", "web site design", "game hints and tips", etc.
  3. The largest Amiga-only database of Amiga sites, using spider capabilities allowing an entire site to be indexed just by providing the home url
  4. Support for META tags, such as META descriptions and META keywords
  5. Monitoring to determine when a link is no longer valid, and automatically removing it from the database

The old search engine will be phased out slowly over the next month, and all prior features of amiCrawler will eventually be incorporated into amiSpider or the Amiga Net Search home site, http://www.amicrawler.com.
