Here's another of Jason's lame forrays into the world of HTML. I'm no good at this, so don't expect it to look very nice.

As most of you probably know, we intend to support k56flex modems rather than USRobotics' x2. The reasons for this are laid out plainly in an email I sent everyone back in February.

Here is a link to a site that seems devoted to keeping the x2 story straight: http://fdt.net/~abc/x2/. Note that you should *not* buy an x2 modem, despite what this page says, as we won't be supporting it. I'm putting a link to it here simply as an informational resource.

Just to keep you all posted, Livingston has announced that they will be shipping k56flex-compatible modem cards for their Portmaster 3 series of terminal server at the end of July. Of course, we don't even have our Portmaster 3's yet, but we still intend to migrate all of our lines from analog to digital of the course of the next few months.

Look here for the latest information...

97/10/23 -- Yay, more information! Our new digital circuits have been ordered, and we should have something connected to them in early November. We'll be recuiting some helpful users to test the new modems with us before unleashing them on everyone. I don't know yet whether we'll be able to keep either 262-7617 or 234-9360 as the pilot number for our hunt-group. Whatever it ends up being, we'll let you know.
