Nova Sector Processing Power
Our systems use the Motorola 68060 and PowerPC
604e processor chips, the two most advanced microprocessors ever made
available for Amiga-compatible workstations. These processors provide the
massive multimedia display and creative productivity capabilities of Nova
Sector's Workstations.
|
The Motorola 68060 is a superscalar, CISC/RISC hybrid
processor, well-suited to embedded and mainstream computing applications.
A 32-bit processor, the 68060 is up to 8 times faster than its predecessor,
the 68040. The 68060 offers peak baseline processing speeds of greater than
100 million instructions per second.
-
Completely User-Code Compatible with the MC68040
-
Superscalar Implementation of M68000 Architecture
-
Branch Cache Reduces Branches to Zero Cycles
-
Executes Three Instructions per Clock
-
Dual 8K On-Chip Caches
-
Bus Snooping
-
Independent Instruction and Data Paged MMUs (MC68060 and MC68LC060 Only)
-
Full 32-Bit Nonmultiplexed Address an Data Bus

The PowerPC 604TM and PowerPC 604eTM microprocessors
are 32-bit RISC implementations of the PowerPC architecture designed for
use in high performance desktop, workstation, and symmetric multiprocessing
computer systems. The PowerPC 604 and PowerPC 604e are software and bus
compatible with the PowerPC 601, PowerPC 603, and PowerPC 603e microprocessors.
The PowerPC 604 features separate 16-Kbyte, physically addressed instruction
and data caches, while the 604e offers 32-Kbyte instruction and data caches.
