More info has just arrived on a NEW Arcade emulator for the Amiga. In it's current state, it has a fully working GUI and nearly completed Z80 engine. The first release, will only be able to run Z80 games, but more should be added soon.

What is so good about this new emulator. Well it is 100% assembly coded for 68020+ processors and the author hopes to be able to get the games at full speed on a 030/25 processor. The other good news is that the main executable will only be small, as it will load the driver and ROM info in after selecting the game to play. This means you won't need so much RAM to load it in as with MAME, which contains all the driver infos in the main executable file.

The author hopes to have a version released sometime in August, but I will let you know as soon as anything happens. The author also wants me to mention that he has nothing to do with the MAME ports and is completely independant of those projects. Well I wish him luck with his venture and look forward to seeing an Arcade emulator written specifically for the Amiga and not just a C port from the P.C.

I have heard that a new Arcade emulator is is the process of being written. The emulator is being coded in assembly, so should run at a reasonable speed. There will be a GUI and the ROMs will be just dropped into the directory with the emu to play them. This project will hopefully be released around the 3/4 of this year.
