A brief history of whoi I rote it. Oar ryte!!!

When I started writing the routines for Star Fighter I was just messing around with a Star Trek shoot-em-up.  I was dissatisfied with the space combat simulators on the Amiga and set about writing basically a game I enjoyed playing.  In fact the shareware version of Star Fighter is just that...a game I enjoy playing.

The Star Trek shoot-em-up involved a series of missions set in different sectors and you would get a transmission from master control to investigate them individually.  I based it in the Sol system and actually had Phobos and Demos orbiting Mars.  If you went to the Sun you could see Mercury orbiting slowly.  I may just add this feature to Star Fighter 2.

The Plot

The plot behind the game begins at a meeting on Reintide, a neutral world.  A heated discussion ensues when Earth is mentioned to be a part of the Confederation.  A rebellious councillor named Gyan D'Yammen refuses to allow Earth to become a part of the Confederation because it is weak.  Gyan then says that the Confederacy should continue to grow in military strength to save itself.

The leader Councillor Teelar retorts with the fact that the Confederacy is designed to allow free and safe trade amongst its members, and tells the guards to take Gyan away to cool off.  Gyan pulls a gun from his cowl, shoots a guard and begins to transport back to his ship.  In his evil voice he says, 'Mark this day all of you, for this is the day Gyan D'Yammen declared war on the Confederation'. In a flash he is gone.

Gyan appears on the deck of a Supremacist Cruiser and tells his Leuitenant to embark to the planet Riley23.  This planet harbours a great many weapons technologies of use to the Confederacy.  YOU begin the game from here as the Confeds are fleeing the planet and Gyan's assault flotilla are heading in via Fluid Space(tm)(c)

The Game

The next scene within the game sees Councillor Teelar overrun with paper work because of Gyan D'Yammen's sucessful attempts at cutting trade routes.  When YOU choose your allegiance you get to hamper the Confeds and take your place along side Gyan's forces, or you can fight it out with the good guys and restore peace to the galaxy as a Confed, or you can be a Rogue-pilot.  Rogues use Cloaking technology to move around in battle.  Rogues collect debris from space to make a living.  The alliance of the Rogue can change and if YOU are consistance you can have either side help you out as you progress further in the Star Fighter universe.
