The Amiga Education Network Announced

DATE: February 1997

THE AMIGA EDUCATION NETWORK (TAEN)

PREAMBLE -

The (Australian-based) Amiga Education Network (TAEN) was established in response to Commodore Australia's demise (which preceded Commodore International's demise by a few months) as a means of supporting the Amiga platform in the schools that were using it, in the hope that there would be a speedy resolution to the survival of the Amiga and, as a consequence, to its survival in the critically important education market.

This message is being posted in the hope that:

(i) 1997 will see the Amiga rescued

(ii) The new owners will appreciate the importance of the education sector and continue to provide a low cost (A1200HD-based) Amiga for this market

(iii) By inviting your comments, it will encourage discussion amongst those in the Amiga community who do still have an interest in the Amiga in education.

(iv) To seek out those (should the Amiga be rescued) who would be prepared to act as National Representatives for their country.

PURPOSE -

The purpose of The Amiga Education Network is to provide an Amiga-based global facility open to all persons or organizations with an interest in the Amiga in the field of education in any country (through national representatives) - through which information about the Amiga, relevant to that country's education, can be disseminated and exchanged.

Each country that participates in TAEN will have its own National Representative, whose role will include all of the above, as well as the following:

Basil Flinter
