Q & A on the new Video Toaster & LightWave 3D Report

Miller Freeman, Inc., publisher of Digital Video Magazine, 3D Design, Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO will announce this week the joint development of biannual, special reports for Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO subscribers that will be called Video Toaster & LightWave 3D Report. These special reports, will supersede the current monthly issues of Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO and will launch this spring. A joint press release from Miller Freeman and NewTek is planned to go out on Friday, October 25, 1996 announcing this and other new media strategies from NewTek, Inc. that support Video Toaster and LightWave users.

The new Video Toaster & LightWave 3D Report will focus on the specific products, tips, techniques and industry news that readers and advertisers have come to rely on from Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO.

The following are questions we anticipate readers will be asking with regard to this change:

  1. Q: Will the new biannual reports be bound into Digital Video and 3D Design Magazines or will they be produced separately?

A: The new spring and fall reports will be a special section, bound into Digital Video and 3D Design Magazines.

  2. Q: Which months' issues are the final issues of Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO?

A: The January issue of Video Toaster User and the October issue of LIGHTWAVEPRO will be the last.

  3. Q: Will Video Toaster User and LIGHTWAVEPRO ever appear as monthly issues again?

A: At this time there are no plans to do so since NewTek, Inc. and Miller Freeman, Inc. have developed new media strategies to serve the needs of this evolving market.

  4. Q: Why is Miller Freeman taking this new direction?

A: The intent of these new strategies bring a broader level of information to Video Toaster and LightWave users through Miller Freeman's focused, in-depth, biannual reports in Digital Video Magazine and 3D Design and a Web publication from NewTek, called NewTek Studio, that will capitalize on the timely and interactive nature of the new medium.

  5. Q: What happens to my current subscription to Video Toaster User or LIGHTWAVEPRO?

A: After the first of the year, if you are a Video Toaster User subscriber you will receive a letter from Miller Freeman, Inc. asking you if you would like to fulfill your current subscription by receiving monthly issues of Digital Video Magazine which will contain the new biannual, Video Toaster & LightWave 3D Report. With the letter you will also receive a copy of Digital Video Magazine.

If you are a LIGHTWAVEPRO subscriber, you will receive a letter asking if you would like to fulfill your current LIGHTWAVEPRO subscription by receiving monthly issues of 3D Design Magazine, which will also contain the new biannual, Video Toaster & LightWave 3D Report. With the letter you will also receive a copy of Digital Video Magazine.

  6. Q: What if I don't want to receive Digital Video Magazine or 3D Design Magazine?

A: Your money will be cheerfully refunded. Although, we believe you won't want to do so once you see the great information you can get with Digital Video Magazine and 3D Design but the choice is yours.

  7. Q: How does this new media strategy effect the Video Toaster User Expo '96 this November 5-8, at the Universal City Hilton & Towers in California?

A: It does not effect the conference or expo. In fact, there is still time to register to attend this exciting, yearly event. Call 1-800-643-3976 to register. You won't want to miss attending this year as there will be additional information about NewTek's new media strategies announced at the conference.

  8. Q: How can someone who is not currently a subscriber to Video Toaster User or LIGHTWAVEPRO sign-up to receive the new Video Toaster User & LightWave 3D Reports?

A: For subscription information for Digital Video Magazine and for 3D Design call 1-800-998-0806.
