Basic Story

Mars is not as barren as it first seems. Martian lichen grows on the most difficult of rocks, drawing in moisture from the air. Not far from the lichen are usually found strange mushroom huts and structures. These are the homes of the Smeglings, small green aliens of limited intelligence. They farm the lichen and harvest the many mushroom types of the dunes. These mushrooms are used in the of the ceremonies of the shamens, for food and a basis to grow new dwellings. Although peaceful they can join to become an overwhelming force if provoked.

In the northern hemisphere there are few Smegling communities. Huge towers of blackest obsidian reach into the atmosphere. These are the homes of the technically advanced Greys. Previously a peaceful race of explorers and scientists they are now a dark and twisted people, who thrive on pain and misery. The discovery of the narcotic found in Magic Mushrooms and the uprising of the dictator KRt'hysLP*z are credited with the downfall. The Greys reguarly attack the Smeglings for sport, slaves or to aquire more Magic Mushrooms.

Battles between the two are frquent and often bloody, although no side has gained an advantage. The Smeglings lack the technology and the drug-crazed Greys are poorly organised and mantained.

This small screenshot is about the best I've got at the moment, it shows a Civilian Smegling and a Chieftan Hut.

The lichen is just visible at the top and a 'Magic' Mushroom field is to the right.

The water is only passable to water or air-based troops, obviously.

(The horrible squared edges will hopefully be removed when I can get the game moving faster.)

At the moment the game features -

Limited intelligence (eg. fear).

Fast but ugly display engine.

Ability to mine the three substances found on Mars (Fungus, Lichen + Stone).

2 Sides with very diferent trooptypes - the evil Greys vs. the innocent Smeglings.

Different landscapes.

Many Building types.

Warcraft II inspired resource management + battles. / Some pre-level anims and screen (eg. above - Grey city tower)
