A) DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------
TrayBar is a great program launcher for the Windows platform that lets
you launch your favorite programs from a system tray menu.
It consists of a icon in the system tray. When you go over the icon
a menu pops up. Frome there you can launch all your programs.
With the Config option you can configure the Traybar menu.
You can add programs, folders and separators. You can also create sub menus
in wich you can place even more programs, folders and separators.
The items may be easily rearranged and organized using separators.
You can also specify how you want programs launched: minimized, hidden, maximized,
or in a normal window.

B) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------
You don't need a monster PC to run Traybar the only requirement is that you have to have Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT.
A desktop resolution of 800*600 or higher is recommended to make full use of the configurator.

At the bottom of the configurator you'll see
three text boxes and some radio buttons:

Now you filled out everything just click ADD and the program will be in the menu.

Drag&Drop
From Traybar 2.0 beta 3 and on Traybar has an option to drag and drop files
on the configurator. Simply open the configurator and open an Explorer window in
Windows. Set the configurator to always on top. Select one or more programs and drag them on to the configurator. They will be added to the menu.

Context Menu
If you have selected the context menu option in the Traybar options you can also add files to the TrayBar menu using the context menu. When you open up a windows explorer window and rightclick on a file, an "Add to TrayBar" menu entry will be added to the menu. When you click it a dialog will popup and you can select the menu to wich you want to add the program

Changing
If you made a mistake you can easily correct it with the "change" button.
Just click on the program you want to change something in.
The things you filled out appear in the location/description boxes again.
Just change them.
If you're done changing click on the change button.

Batch Launching
From Traybar 2.1 and on Traybar also has a feature called batch launching.
With this feature you can launch multiple programs with one click.
Just click the button with the ">>" this will expand the configurator. Now you see a textbox. Enter the program you want to launch first. Then click on the "+" this will add the program to the batch list. After that you can add as many programs as you like to the list.
Once your done give a description in the description bar and add the program to the Traybar menu.
Multiple programs will have a different icon in the menu.

Adding contents of a folder
From Traybar 2.2 and on Traybar has a feature wich allows you to add the entire contents of a folder to the menu. Just click the button with the ">>" this will expand the configurator. Now you see an area for the batchlaunching but also a checkbox titled ""Add all files in a directory". Now when this checkbox is checked and you browse for a folder, or drop one on the configurator it's whole contents will be added to the configurator.

C) REMOVING PROGRAMS AND FOLDERS
---------------------------------
If you want to remove an item from a menu: select one or multiple items from the list
and then click the remove button.

D) MOVING PROGRAMS AND FOLDERS IN AND BETWEEN MENUS
---------------------------------
If you want to move a program/folder in the menu you can
use the "Move up" and "Move Down" buttons.

Moving between menus
To move menuitems between menus select one or multiple items and
rightclick. A menu will pop up. From the Send to: item select the menu
where you want to send the item to.

E) USING SEPARATORS AND SUBMENUS
---------------------------------
To make the menu more logic you can add separators between programs.
Click the "Add separator" button and move the separator to where you want to have it.

Another option of Traybar is the use of submenus.
Normally the Traybar menu consist of one long list but with submenus you can split up all
your programs in submenus.
Say you have some games, some graphics programs and some folders you use often.
Wouldn't it be great to create 3 submenus named "Games", "Graphics" and "Misc"?
Well you can do just that with Traybar.

In the configurator click on "Add" in the menucontrols.
A new menu will appear wich you can give a name by clicking on it and pressing rename.
Or doubleclicking on it. You can add infinite menus and you can add up to 50 programs to each menu.
Now to add a program to a submenu click on the menu of your choice in the menulist.
Fill out the location/description and click "Add". The program will now be added
to the selected submenu.

F) CONFIGURING EMAIL CONTACTS
---------------------------------
Of course you noticed that there is a submenu named "Email Menu"
in the menu list of the configurator.
With this menu you can quickly add important contacts To the Traybar menu.
And mail them of course.

If you click on the "Email Menu" in the menulist of the configurator.
There will change a number of things to the configurator.
The location textbox will change into "Name" and the description textbox will become "Email".
Just fill in the contact's name into the "Name" box
Enter his/her Emailaddress in the "Email" box.
Now click "Add" and the contacts is added to the "Email to:" menu of Traybar.
If you don't use the email menu, you can disable it in the options...

G) BACKING UP TRAYBAR CONFIGURATIONS
---------------------------------
Of course you want to backup your Traybar configuration,
So you can load it again if you have formatted your PC or Windows has crashed.
Traybar saves its settings in a Traybar.ini file in the directory where you installed Traybar.
Once you have a configuration, which fits you, the only thing you have to do is backup the .ini file.
Easy.

H) THE FASTSTART ITEM
---------------------------------
Traybar also has a feature called Faststart. It was removed from versions 1.40 and on
but users asked me to bring it back. So I did.

Faststart works the same way as the Windows "Run" command from the startmenu.
If you don't want to add a program to the menu but just wan't to run it for a single instance. You can use the Faststart item.

If you don't use the Faststart item, you can disable it in the options.

I) TRAYBARS OPTIONS
---------------------------------
If your not happy with the way Traybar works, maybe you can find what you need
under in the "Options".

Go to "system" and then "options" to open the Options screen.
Here you'll find a number of settings:

Show Faststart item
This controls wether or not the Faststart item is displayed in the TrayBar menu.

Show Email item
This controls wether or not the Email item is displayed in the TrayBar menu.

Menu opens with
Here you can choose when you want the TrayBar menu to popup. There are a number of different settings wich you can try out.

Trayicon
Normally this is set to default, wich is the black arrow.
But you can also specify your own icon. Just uncheck the default checkbox and click "Pick". This will require a restart.

Show tooltips
When checked useful tooltips will be displayed while you hover over buttons and other controls in Traybar.

Start with Windows
This option makes Traybar start automatically when you start up Windows.

Shell context menus
The Shell context menu option, will add a menu entry to the context menu in Windows.
This way when you rightclick a file in the windowsexplorer an "Add to Traybar" menuentry will popup.

But you can also specify your own font. Just uncheck the default checkbox and click "Font".

3. TROUBLESHOOTING
-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you're experience problems with Traybar maybe you can find an answer in this mini-FAQ.

A)Known issues
---------------------------------

Q: Email opens 2 emails?
A: Hmm, this only seems to be the case when you're using Netscape.
At the moment I don't have a solution for this.

Q: Email to opens the wrong Email client?
A: Traybar uses the default Email client to send mail.
So if you want Traybar to send mail with Netscape or Eudora
set them as the default mail client.

Q: TrayBar menu doesn't disappear till I click on a menuitem?
A: This only happens when you're using Windows NT / or Windows 2000.
A possible solution can bet to choose to have the Traybar menu pop up
with a click instead of mouseover. If that doesn't work all you can do is click on the system item in the menu that way you won't launch a program and when you click outside the menu now the menu will disappear.

Q: I can't reach all items in the menu?
A: This happens when you're adding more items than fit on the screen in Win95.
The solution is to install Win98 or higher so the Traybar menu will scroll.
Or to use submenus of course!
Another solution could be to set the resolution of your Windows desktop higher.

Q: There are no icons next to the programs?
A: Thats probably the case when Traybar can't find an icon for the program, maybe the program doesn't have an icon, or it doesn't exist.

Q: How can I add my dialup connections to TrayBar?
A: You can't add a dialup connection directly, but there is a way: First go to the dialup connections folder in My Computer in Windows.
Then click on a connection icon. Open an explorer window and create a new folder eg. C:\Dialupconnections. Drag the connection icon to the new folder. Now you can add this connection.dun file to TrayBar. Wich of course is very handy if you have multiple connections.
This works in Windows ME, I don't know if it works in every version of Windows.
