What is Expression and why would you want it?

Expression is the first-ever Natural-Media vector drawing program.
It’s revolutionary because to create you simply draw a vector 
path and art is automatically applied to that path. Expression 
lets you to draw in a gestural way rather than mechanically. 
Instead of going through the tedious process of editing bezier 
control points to create the desired effect you simply select one 
of the hundreds of built-in stroke styles and begin drawing with 
them.  And with Expression you get all the benefits of a vector-
based draw program - editability, smaller file sizes, faster 
performance and resolution independence.

If you haven't yet seen how Expression combines the expressiveness
of Natural-Media technology with the advantages of a vector-based 
drawing application, this is your chance!  
             

What is included in the demo version?

Expression Demo is a save disabled version of this award-winning 
application for Windows 95 and NT. It will show you all the 
capabilities but without the ability to save, export, print or copy 
or paste. This version also comes with a reduced set of strokes. 
You can create your own strokes using Expression, but they will 
only be available during your current session and will not be saved.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

- 486, Pentium(TM) or Pentium Pro - based 
  computer with math coprocessor
- Windows 95 or NT
- Minimum 12MB RAM (16MB or more recommended)
- Hard disk with 20MB free
- Color display (24-bit recommended)
- Supports most pressure-sensitive tablets


DOWNLOAD FILES:

The Expression demo is available as either a single file or as
4 split files. For instructions on downloading the split files,
see below.

  exprdemo.exe - This is the Expression installer in a self-
                 extracting archive (6.8MB).

  exprdocs.pdf - This is the Expression documentation in Acrobat 
                 PDF format (requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader 
                 from http://www.adobe.com/). The PDF contains 
                 Chapter 1 of the Expression User Guide (1.4MB).
                 The file "exprdocs_full.pdf" contains the 
                 entire User Guide and is 8.2 MB.


INSTALLATION:

- Download the file exprdemo.exe into a temporary folder.
- Double-click the file to run the self-extractor. Follow the 
  on-screen instructions to install Expression.
- After the Expression demo has successfully been installed, you 
  may delete the temporary folder.
- For documentation on using Expression, download the file 
  exprdocs.pdf or exprdocs_full.pdf and view it using the 
  Acrobat Reader.


USING THE SPLIT FILES:

If you are on a slow line or not in North America, it may be 
easier for you to download the Expression demo as a series
of split files. These are located in the "split" subdirectory
here.

  expdemo1.zip - These are the 4 individual files that make up
   (through)     the Expression installer. They are each
  expdemo4.zip   1.7MB.

  hjsplit.zip  - This is "HJSplit," the freeware utility you 
                 need to join the split files.

To use the split files:

- Download the 4 expdemo files and the hjsplit file.
- Using any unzip utility (like WinZip), extract all these files
  into a temporary directory. The Expression files will unzip 
  into filenames similar to this: "exprdemo.exe.001"
- Start hjsplit.exe, choose "Join", and click on the filename
  field to select the first file (the one named
  with "001"). Click "Start". The split files will be joined into
  a single file called "exprdemo.exe".
- If you view the file's properties in Windows, the total file 
  size for exprdemo.exe should be 6,837,218 bytes.
- Continue with the installation instructions above.
