How to install “AnyFolder”. ========================== To install “AnyFolder” right-click on the file Folders.inf, included in the installation set and choose “Install” from the context menu. To enter your registration information you have to press “Register“ button on “Icon” property page of any folder. How to uninstall “AnyFolder”. ============================ To uninstall “AnyFolder” shell extension you may run “Add/Remove Programs” from the Control Panel and double-click on the “AnyFolder” shell extension. Tips and tricks. ================ 1. To manage, extract, edit and create icons you may use some tools, which can be found at www.download.com under category Multimedia & Design \Icons. 2. To assign different icons to each hard drive in your system you may create file Autorun.inf in the root directory, containing lines: [autorun] ICON=iconfilename,index where iconfilename is full path to file, containing icon and index is number of image inside this file, usually 0. 3. Most of shell icons are located inside Windows\System\Shell32.dll file. Known problems for this version of “AnyFolder”. ============================================= 1. You can see small icon of the folder unchanged in the left pane of the Windows Explorer the first time you have applied customization to it. The icon will be correct next time you restart your computer. 2. You can see plus tab in the left pane of the Windows Explorer for folder that does not actually contain subfolders. This is due the way Windows shell manages extensions and will be fixed in the next version. 3. You can see folder icon “flashes” when the folder closes under Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, because its shell is not fully compatible with Windows95/NT. 4. “AnyFolder” marks customized folders as read only.
