Character sets

Lists the character sets that are installed on your computer. After you select a character set, you can change the font.

Proportional font

Specifies the font to use when displaying proportionally spaced text on a Web page. Most Web pages contain text that uses a proportional font.

This setting works only if the Web page author has not specified a different font setting.

Fixed-width font

Specifies the name of the fixed-width font you want to use when displaying Web a page.

Some Web pages contain text that must be displayed in a nonproportional (fixed-width) font.

This setting works only if the Web page author has not specified a different font setting.

Font size

Changes the base font size used to display text in Web pages. All other font sizes change in relation to the base font.

MIME encoding

Specifies that you can select your default MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) type character set for the selected default font. In the list, click the character set you want to use.

Default charset

Displays the name of the current default character set.

Set as Default

Click this to set the selected character set as the default character set.
