OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore is split up into the following components :

Graphical User Interface

An easy to use point and click interface giving you access to all of the functions of OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore. You must install this component or the C Application Programming Interface component to have access to OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore functionality. This component includes hard disk support. If you require the use of other device types then install the respective components.


C Application Programming Interface

A complete API enabling you to carry out all tasks available from the GUI. The API server enables programmes running on other machines to access the API. The C API enables you to integrate your backup policies with other administrative tasks and drive them centrally. You must install this component or the Graphical User Interface to have access to the OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore functionality. This component includes hard disk support. If you require the use of other device types then install the respective components.


REXX Application Programming Interface

A complete REXX API enabling you to carry out all tasks available from the GUI. Using the power of the REXX API with the simple REXX language you can quickly automate your backup processes. This component requires the installation of the C API.


Command Line Interface

A set of commands that enable you to carry out backup, restore and administration tasks in a non graphical environment. These commands can be run through telnet enabling you to check your data is safe wherever you are. This component requires the C API to be installed.


ADSM Support

A device that enables you to backup to and restore from ADSM servers. You may not install OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore tape support on a machine that is an ADSM Server.


Diskette Support

A device that enables you to backup to and restore from floppy disks.


LAN Drive support

A device that enables you to back up to Local Area Network drives. These are drives that you access with a UNC name and do not necessarily have a drive letter assigned to them.


Optical Drive Support

A device that enables you to backup to and restore from read/write optical drives.


Partitioned Removable Media Support

A device that takes advantage of new Partitioned Removable Media support in OS/2 to enable you to backup to and restore from fabulously fast devices such as the IOMEGA* JAZ** drive.


Remote Drive Support

A device that enables you to backup to and restore from remote drives that are described by a drive letter.


Tape Drive Support

A device that gives you access to many tape drives and gives you generic support for many others. You may not install OS/2 Warp Server Backup/Restore tape support on a machine that is an ADSM Server.
