Copilot/2 Beta 1

What is Copilot/2?

Copilot/2 is an OS/2 port of the Copilot software. Copilot is a PC based emulation of the US Robotics PalmPilot(tm), a very nice and handy PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).
With the emulation software, you can test new PalmPilot software berfore actually downloading it into the device, and it makes software developing and debugging much easier.
Copilot/2 is freeware.

Downloading Copilot/2

The beta versions will only be available on this site. Click copilot2.zip for download.
Please note that in order to run the application, you need a ROM file (i.e. the operating system and applications which are stored in the PalmPilot). You can get this file out of your (physical) Pilot with an utility called GETROM. See the OS/2 links in the "Useful Pilot Links" section below. Or ask AltaVisa for "Pilot ROM".
Release versions will be downloadable from the usual sources (hobbes.nmsu.edu, CIS etc.), too.

  • Bug: when exiting the application, it sometimes takes 1 minute until the OS/2 desktop is responsible again.
  • Bug: The settings are not stored.
  • Not yet implemented: The Load Application Dialog will be enhanced (very simple at the moment).
  • Bug: The palette may get corrupted.
  • Bug: When other applications which use the palette are running, the system may hang.
  • Not yet implemented: Currently, the application is tested only with the "old" Pilot 1000 and Pilot 5000 ROM.
  • Bug: there is a white line on the bottom and left sides of the pilot screen.
