Use this CDWFS folder to display its objects; this drive's settings dialog to change its current CDWFS parameters; RSJ CD-Writer Control to change the default settings of the CDWFS file system. More information ═══ 2. RSJ CD-Writer Control / Settings ═══ The following dialog pages can be used to change the settings of the CDWFS file system or perform frequently used tasks: Dialog page Purpose General Drive letter and cache parameters; attaching and detaching of CDWFS drives. Recorder CD recorder und file system settings Status "checkdisk" for CDWFS drives. Info Version and copyright information. Parameters changed in the settings notebook of a CDWFS drive object are, as far as possible, immediately active. After the drive is detached (finalized), the CDWFS standard settings apply again. Use the RSJ CD-Writer Control applet to adjust CDWFS standard parameters. ═══ 3. Trade marks ═══ OS/2, Presentation Manager, IBM and PS/2 are registered trade marks of International Business Machines Corp. Unix is a registered trade mark of X/Open Company Ltd. Windows, Microsoft and WindowsNT are registered trade marks of Microsoft Corp. All other trade marks belong to their respective owners and are hereby acknowledged. ═══ 4. "General" dialog page ═══ Note: If this dialog is part of a CDWFS drive's settings notebook, no options are available. However, the drive can be detached (finalized) here. See also: general information Drive letter Selects the drive letter to be used by the attach/detach button. Only free or CDWFS drive letters can be selected. See the description of the Attach now/Finalize button below for further information. Attach now Shows the Attach dialog. This button is labeled Finalize if the selected drive letter is a CDWFS drive (see below). Finalize Causes the Finalize dialog to appear. This button is labeled Attach now if the selected drive letter is not in use (see above). Hard disk cache Path Temporary CD-Writer cache files will be stored in this directory. The disk space available on this drive should be about 4 times larger than the cache size (below), so that further cache files can be created while the previous files are written to the CD recorder. If there's not enough space available, the copy process will be interrupted for a short time (without the risk of data loss). Size Enter the desired cache size here. If a file larger than this size is copied, the cache size will be enlarged automatically. A larger cache size setting results in less tracks on the CD. Default Inserts the default value for this parameter. RAM Cache Size This value specifies the size of the cache buffer used while cache files are copied to the recorder. A faster recording speed requires a larger cache buffer size. Double speed (2x=150k/sec) requires a cache size of about 2048-4096KB, quad speed (4x) at least 4096kb. Default. Inserts the default value for this parameter. Undo Restores the current file system settings. Apply Activates the settings without closing the dialog. Help Shows this information. ═══ 4.1. "Attach" dialog ═══ Sessions to skip Enter the number of sessions to skip (default: 0). This option allows you to restore a previous status of the CD. This is especially useful if you want to access a file that was modified or deleted in a previous session. ═══ 4.2. "Detach" dialog ═══ Use this dialog to finalize or detach a CDWFS drive (recorder). The following options are available: Finalize session The current session will be closed so the CD is readable for normal CD-ROM drives. This option uses about 20 MB of space on the CD for session information. However, the CD can still be written to (if it is attached again). Finalize with write protection Same as above; additionally, the CD is write protected to prevent further write access. To remove the write protection, insert the CD into the recorder, attach the drive and then choose the Unseal command in the drive's context menu. Close without session This option writes all data in the caches and the table of contents to the CD. It will not be accessable with normal CD-ROM drives until one of the above options is used. However, it can be read by the CD recorder. This is useful if you want to close the CD without investing the 20MB for session information needed by CD-ROM drives to read the CD. Emergency eject This option is discards the buffers and is used in case of errors. ═══ 5. "Recorder" dialog page ═══ See also: general information General Speed Adjusts the recording speed. (1x = 150 K/sec, 2x = 300 k/sec, ...). Test mode Causes the recorder to emulate the write process. This option is useful to verify that the source device(s) deliver data fast enough for the current recording speed. Most recorders indicate test mode by flashing the write or busy indicator. Note that source recorders return errors when a session is finalized in test mode. Use the Close without session detach option to prevent this. SONY recorders do not support test mode. File system Eject when done Causes the CD to be ejected after the drive is detached. Note that some recorders (ie Philips CDD522, Kodak PCD225) only update the internal track directory when the CD is ejected. If the system is restarted without ejecting the CD, the track directory is lost, which causes previous tracks to be overwritten and the CD to be destroyed. This option should normally be marked. Do not lock drive door When the recorder is attached, the drive door should be locked. Use this option to prevent this. However, if the door is opened too early there is a risk of data loss or even destruction of the CD. This option should not be marked. It is only used for test or debugging purposes. Track mode Selects the track mode used for creating new CDs. CD-XA is the default. CD-ROM mode should only be used if the CD is to be read by systems that do not support CD-XA CDs (very rare). If the mode is changed, this applys only to new CDs. ISO - Level This setting defines the way the ISO9660-directory is created. The following options are available: [1] All file names are delimited to 8.3 names [2] File names can have a length of up to 31 characters, but can contain only one period (.) [3] Same as [2], but any number of periods. Note: Long file names are written in any case (Joliet and Rockridge format), no matter what setting is used, so they are displayed under Unix, Windows 95 and NT. To display long file names under OS/2, the CDWFS file system can be used (type cdattach -d at an OS/2 command prompt). Undo Restores the current file system settings. Apply Activates the settings without closing the dialog. Help Shows this information. ═══ 6. "Status" dialog page ═══ See also: general information Use this page to retrieve information about the current CDWFS drives' status. Adjust the desired drive letter (CDWFS-drive) and press the CD status button. The requested information is graphically displayed in a pie chart using three different colors: Files Space occupied by files is displayed in blue. Directories The yellow part corresponds to the space used by directories. Other The dark cyan area is occupied by system areas, session information, gaps between tracks, deleted files, etc. To the right, the corresponding values are displayed as numbers; below, track, session and disk space information is displayed. ═══ 7. "Info" dialog page ═══ General information This page displays version and copyright information for RSJ CD-Writer. File system settings cannot be changed here. ═══ 8. "Finalize" menu item ═══ Displays the detach dialog. ═══ 9. "Unseal" menu item ═══ Removes the write protection of a CD so it can be attached and written to again. See the options for the detach dialog for more information. ═══ 10. "Erase CD (CDRW)" ═══ This command deletes all data from a "Rewritable" CD.
