═══ 1. Overview ═══ What is CreativeAV? About CreativeOverlay ═══ 1.1. What is CreativeAV? ═══ CreativeAV is a suite of playback utitlities that allows you to control the multimedia devices on your PC. It consists of five players: CreativeWave, CreativeMidi, CreativeCD, CreativeOverlay and CreativeMovie. CreativeWave plays WAVE files, CreativeMidi plays MIDI files, CreativeCD plays audio CD tracks, CreativeOverlay controls the video overlay device and CreativeMovie plays digital video files. ═══ 1.2. About CreativeOverlay ═══ CreativeOverlay is the home VCR player in the CreativeAV suite of media playback utilities. It allows you to display the live video from a video source on your PC monitor. Some of the advanced features of this player are:  "Touch-Sensitive" Display  Ability to capture and save each video frame in a selected file format.  Direct control of an overlay's color settings. ═══ 2. "Touch-Sensitive" Display ═══ The "Touch-Sensitive" Display consists of several "touch- sensitive" controls as well as indicators that show the current playback status and track information. By clicking on the "Touch-Sensitive" Display, you can toggle among the different views. CreativeOverlay has two "touch-sensitive" views. They are: View 1. Color Settings ═══ To adjust the individual components of Overlay Settings like contrast, brightness, hue, saturation, use their respective graphic control in the "Touch-Sensitive" Display. For example, to adjust the contrast : 1. Use your left mouse button to drag the Contrast Control to the desired level. 2. Release the mouse button only when the highlighted portion of the Contrast Control has reached the contrast level you have chosen. Note: You can also use hot keys to change the contrast level of the overlay device. Press to select the Contrast Control and use the up and down arrow keys to go to the level you want. Tip To force the Contrast Control to jump to the desired level immediately, click your right mouse button at the desired location. This is more efficient than using your left mouse button to drag the control to the required point. ═══ 2.1.2. Selecting the Video Source ═══ To select a video source : 1. From the Video Source Selector , pick the desired video source. 2. The live video signal from the selected video source is displayed on the Overlay Window. Showing the Overlay Window ═══ To show the Overlay Window: 1. Choose the Play button 2. The Overlay Window appears. Note: To hide the Overlay Window, choose the Stop button ═══ 3.2. Capturing a Video Frame ═══ You can capture a video frame whenever live video is displayed in the Overlay Window. To capture a video frame: 1. Choose the Pause button to freeze the image in the Overlay Window. 2. A frame is now captured. Note: To unfreeze the image, choose the Pause button again or choose the Play button ═══ 3.3. Saving a Video Frame ═══ You can save the video image under a selected file format. To save a video frame: 1. Choose the Record button 2. The image gets captured. 3. The Save As file dialog box appears. 4. Type a filename in the Filename entry field. 5. Choose the button. 6. The image gets saved under the specified filename. ═══ 3.4. Moving The CreativeOverlay Window ═══ To move the CreativeOverlay window, use your left mouse button to drag the CreativeOverlay window to the new position. ═══ 3.5. Keyboard Shortcuts ═══ Press To do this Freezes the Overlay display Activates the menu Activates the Brightness Control Activates the Contrast Control Toggles the "Touch-Sensitive" Display mode. Activates the on-line Help Activates the Hue Control Minimizes CreativeOverlay to an icon Quits CreativeOverlay
